FAQs

$500 minigrants will be awarded to Vermont public middle and high schools. Any teacher, student, coach, administrator, staff, or volunteer is welcome to submit the application.

We’re inspired by programs that are supporting conversations about healthy masculinity, mental health, friendship, mentorship, and other themes explored in the award-winning documentary film, “Gone Guys.” Some examples include the “Boys Will Be …” program at Hartford Middle School, Montpelier High School’s Healthy Masculinity class, and the M3 program at the University of Vermont. Short films are available about each of those example programs on our website at GoneGuysFilm.com/#resources. But there are tons of examples of groups all around the state doing great work supporting boys and young men. During our tour we’ve learned about examples including small engine repair workshops, weight-lifting clubs, peer mentoring programs, and more. If you have an idea, share it with us! Tell us how what you are doing helps boys and young men thrive!

No! Any group is welcome to apply. We are interested in how the group, club, or activity is intentionally tackling the themes explored in the film such as healthy masculinity, connection, youth mental health, and mentorship.

No problem. Send us a note at [email protected] and we’ll send you a private preview link to watch.

Your school will have the final say on this. We’re excited to support supplies, food, activities, equipment, stipends, and whatever else might be helpful! We’re particularly excited for groups to work together to decide how to spend the funds.

We love athletics programs and believe they play a hugely important role in the lives of many young people. To be eligible, we’ll want to hear about how you’re specifically tackling themes like healthy masculinity and positive youth mental health.

Nope, and you don’t need to ask our permission once you receive the grant. Just make sure what you are doing is in line with the appropriate policies at your school.

No, but we would love to hear from you! We hope you’ll share a couple of photos and maybe a sentence or two about your group.
